OUR MISSION

Mission Statement

The NYCPS Alliance is a grassroots coalition of educators, parents, and community allies committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students in New York City Public Schools—regardless of background, identity, or beliefs.

We are united in our stand against all forms of hatred and discrimination, with a particular focus on the growing and deeply concerning presence of antisemitism and systemic bias within the NYC school system. Jewish students, families, and staff deserve to feel safe, seen, and respected in every classroom and school building across the five boroughs.

We formed this alliance to break the silence—to give voice to the educators and families who have witnessed and experienced firsthand the failure of leadership to uphold the principles of tolerance, understanding and inclusion. This is not just about policy—it’s about people. It's about the right of every child to learn in an environment free from hate and indoctrination.

In November 2023, on the steps of the Chancellor office, we stood together and publicly called out the New York City Department of Education for its ongoing failure to protect Jewish students, educators, and staff. We reject the passive tolerance of antisemitism and demand real accountability from city leadership. The Chancellor’s inaction—and, at times, the enabling of ideological extremism—has allowed discrimination, bias, and hate to take root in our schools. We will not stand by in silence.

We Call on the Chancellor and the NYCPS Leadership to Take Immediate Action:

  1. Adopt and enforce the IHRA definition of antisemitism, which recognizes that anti-Zionism is a form of antisemitism. This is the standard used in federal civil rights investigations under Title VI.

  2. Ensure Jewish representation in NYCPS leadership—specifically individuals who affirm Israel’s right to exist and advocate for the safety and dignity of Jewish students and staff.

  3. Implement a new curriculum and material vetting process under the oversight of the NYCPS Alliance and EndJewHatred, to prevent historical distortion, anti-Zionist bias, and the erasure of Jewish identity from educational content.

We are not afraid. We will not be silenced.
We are here to reclaim our classrooms and restore the principles of education, equality, and truth.
